Beverly Hills Dining
Cut
By: Diane L Divo-Schultheis
Located inside the Beverly Wilshire Hotel (9500 Wilshire Boulevard), chef Wolfgang Puck has reinvented the traditional American steakhouse. There are nights that you could be personally greeted by him as he stops at every table on his way to or from the kitchen. You can also catch many of Hollywood notables dining here on many occasions.
The Setting
This is the place that Pretty Woman was filmed and you are sure to recognize many of the features. Architect Richard Meier of the Getty Center, fills in his trademark white color scheme and escapes the dark leather booths and low lighting of classic steakhouses. You will find people of all walks of life, including many of Hollywood industry leaders relaxing in the booths in the middle of the room or on stylish swivel chairs. The service is polished and polite.
The Food
Wolfgang Puck offers protein rich appetizers, red meat main courses, and very stiff martinis. The twenty-one day aged rib eye is an excellent choice along with crispy pork belly that has a hint of maple. They offer a delicious rotisserie duckling for two that many couples enjoy together. The Kobe beef is a favorite of many of their guests and the Foie Gras is said to “melt in your mouth”. The onion bread and cheese puffs are other great choices to order on your next visit here.
